Stewart Transport delivered my car over the weekend. After years of planning, stock piling parts and saving $$, I'm finally starting my project. It will be powered by a 1971 Boss 351C, Toploader trans and Levy 5 link

Congrats and thanks for the support! I enjoy knowing that here at the headwaters you will begin a journey that will involve meeting great people, making good friends, frustration and rewards... and in the end you'll have a car that will flat out spank anything on the street! Thanks for sharing your pics! Dave Smith

... and that's how it is when you join this family; you post about taking delivery and the President of the company writes you a public thank-you note!

Enjoy the ride... we can't wait to begin helping you spend your money.

Congratulations on your dream coming true!! Now the fun begins.
The Cleveland is a great engine however not widely used. Go ahead now and check on what headers are available.

Looking forward to progress reports.

If your chasing parts for the cleveland try looking on Australian websites as the Australian Ford Falcon 1969 (XY model)through to the early 1980's had them fitted, XE model was the last. Brand new blocks are also being sold by a supplier/manufacturer in Perth, Western Australia, postage might be expensive but it will be new, IIRC it copies the pillow block, with one piece rear main seal and 4 bolt mains.
I believe in Australia the term 'Boss motor' refered to a motor that used a Windsor block with Cleveland heads and a unique manifold with a few extra holes drill for coolant flow, so if you do get anything from there keep this in mind.
Hope this is helpful.

Congrats on your long time dream coming true. I waited for 9 years before I ordered mine. Delivery day is one you won't forget.

You are going a road less travelled with a Cleveland, but I am sure it is nothing that hard. You already have the headers figured out. I am enjoying every minute of the build. I am sure you will too.

4.10 might give you more tire smoke than acceleration. I would do some reading on that one.

There are several guys in the bay area. I am on the other side of the state, but we may get a chance to cruize together in a year or so.

I know 4.10's are a bit stout but I already have the rear end. I'm hoping the Goodyear billboards are going to be sticky enough and the 5 link will help. I will be running 15 inch wheels. Rear gear can always be adjusted accordingly. Also the toploader's 2.32 1st gear is not as low as the 5 speeds 2.95 or 3.35. Anyone have luck with 400+ hp and 4.10 gears with a toploader? I know my combination is not mainstream Thanks

Congrats on the purchase and delivery!! I have found another 335 fan!! I am about 1.5 years from placing my order and I am planning on running the 351C as well in mine. I just picked up a 1971 2v a couple of weeks ago, I just haven't settled on the trans yet. Since I have not done a build yet, I won't likely be much help to you, but I will be watching your build closely to see what troubles and triumphs you encounter as you put this together.

Glad to hear someone else is considering (planning) a Cleveland engine in a roadster. I am also and planning headers from a local (Phoenix) builder. Stainless Headers will match the CHI 3V heads if you decide to go this way (I am). I, for one, would appreciate keeping the information flowing in this thread.

Congrats and welcome! I just took delivery of my second FFR over in Lakeland, not to far from you. There are quite a few FFR's in the area, so if you have questions or need a hand we are here to help.

Hello fellow Cleveland guys. My project is slowly coming along. I'm still sourcing parts and have been working on drilling sheet metal (a lot of holes) Here are some photos of the initial engine mock up. It will be a little tight on the DS foot box but doable. I'm thinking a little sheet metal mod is in order as others have done. I have 2 directions on the transmission choice. It will be either a Toploader or a C-4. Still undecided.
Otto, Thanks for the offer. Good to know there are others in the area. 26565265662656726568

A few more pics. Anyone who knows Clevelands recognizes the massive port canted valve heads. These motors need to rev so it will be built for the 7000 RPM range. Not miles per gallon but smiles per gallon.:D 265692657026571

Aspbite: You may want to look at the CHI (www.chiheads.com) heads. These guys (Aussies) really love the Cleveland engine and have developed the best aftermarket Cleveland heads on the planet! I ran a set on my Mach 1 and they fit well and performed out of this world! These will be my choice again for my MK IV build...

Wow, now I see why the Cleveland was the hot setup back in the day. The ports were huge. I wonder why they fell out of favor and the Windsor didn't.

I have a complete Cleveland in my shop that I would like to use in a FFR after the my 429 build is finished. I'm interested to see how yours turns out. Congrats! Nick C
