View Full Version : Ethical/Allowed to purchase someone's slot?

This is really more of a question for Factory Five, but I suspect some people might have an opinion. Is it ethical and 'allowed' to buy someones 'slot' in the delivery queue? My build date is in 2014 (yes, I am way new to the party!). If I offered someone $2k to trade spots, is that something that should be allowed?

I can certainly understand that we don't want these slots to become some kind of traded commodity, and it is possible that FF would prefer to not having this kind of trade occurring. For me personally it would be worthwhile to trade someone only because of when I would have a month or so free to build. Then again this might be a pointless question as I suspect everyone is so excited about their build there really is no one who would trade!

In either case, I am sure we are all excited to see the first kit roll off the line!

Jeff,

Thanks for taking the time to ask the question instead of just putting an offer out there. No, it's not allowed to buy your way to a higher slot.

The pre-order form on Factory Five's website clearly states that "I understand that this deposit is to reserve my production space and is non-transferable and non-refundable." This text is accompanied by a check box that is required to be checked before proceeding.

Indeed that is what it says! I of course glossed right over that while signing up. :) Understood.

Cheers,

Jeff

That wouldn't stop you from buying someone's kit once they take delivery at a premium. Just like any car dealership and "market adjustment" Although like you said, you are going to have a VERY hard time finding someone with an early spot willing to sell their kit.

2014 is right around the corner and it has been stated numerous times that production will ramp up rapidly, you may get the call a lot sooner than you think.
