View Full Version : powered by ford badges
Who can tell me where these are available? Just the basis ones with no engine size designation.

just do a google search on "Powered by Ford Badges" and you'll get several options from eBay to American Muscle. Here's one link for you... not sure which badge you are after, there are certainly several to choose from.

Next question; how do I get the old ones off without messing up the paint? The guy who built my car installed 427 badges but used a 347 stroker. I'm tired of answering the question, "is that a 427?"

Check the inside of the fender and see if he used a mechanical fastener (threaded stud and nut.) If he did then take them apart and you may get lucky and have the emblem fall off. If they stay on, or they are not bolted, try dental floss working it behind the emblem. It will cut through the silicone, emblem tape etc. and shouldn't do anything to the paint. Then it's just a matter of removing any left over adhesive.
Good luck,
Ray

Who care what the badge says? I would keep the ones you have, forget about the questions.

This topic has been debated repeatedly over on the other forum... Fact is, the body is a replica of a 427, so the 427 badge is technically correct. And many big blocks aren't really 427's, they're 428 or whatever. So the 427 badge matches the body style, but not the engine if you're running a 347. The "Powered by Ford" badge was not used by 427 body types that I know of. So either way you're wrong.
Having said that, my 306 powered Mk3 has "Powered by Ford" badges. Haven't decided what my Dart 347 powered Mk4 will wear. Not 427 and not powered by Ford. Will either be something custom or nothing. Have another year (at least) to decide.

My uncle's old half cab Bronco wears this:

Yeah: you're stuck in Limbo: FIA drive train and big block body. But I agree with you as far as the badge. I would go with the Powered by Ford one with no numbers. The dental floss idea sounds good! Good luck, WEK.

The emblems are attached with unthreaded studs (~1/8" dia.) without nuts and some type of cement. Based on the comments above, I think I'll leave them be and answer the inevitable question. Thanks for your thoughts.

What kind of adhesive are people are using to attach these? I will be putting mine on this weekend.

Silicone or double stick emblem tape (I used the 3M brand.)

That's also what I used. Sticks well. They had it at NAPA. I'm sure it's at other parts stores as well.

Try Finish Line, that's where I got mine.
