+1 for me. This project is headed too much in an Ariel Atom direction for me. I want a sports car not a track only car.

OK, this was just supposed to be a joke on all the roof options talk. Lets keep putting our 'I want a roof' in the other threads that are already being used for that.
But if you want to comment on how totally lame the joke is, then those go right here in this thread.

I found your joke Appropriate, Insightful, Amazing.
You put a targatop on? whotoldyoutoputatopon? Did I tell you to put a targatop on? No, I wouldn't tell you to putatopon. So who told you to put a top on? Did A FORUM MEMBER tell you to put a top on? Was it a DOCTOR? Why don't you let Dave Smith put a Top on? What's a Targa anyway?

Hopefully the chosen design at least allows for the accommodation of a hardtop. If there is enough height and closed off area behind the seats, I would at least have a fighting chance to designing and making my own hardtop. Having worked in the body kit business and manufactured fiberglass parts, it wouldn't be too difficult to make something if the shape wasn't too complex. The designs I submitted would allow for me place a flat targa top from the top of the windshield to the top of the "speedster humps". Add some rubber liner and some latches and it would be good to go!
I'm with FF at this point, without not knowing what the final design looks like, it becomes difficult to say that you could offer a targatop.

Yes, even this weeks winner could accept a targa top if it had a winshield.

I'm with Stavros, if it doesnt have a top, and theres not an aftermarket one by the time im done building ill just make my own top out of a tarp and aluminum tubing! haha but seriously im not worried about it because im sure if a top is not part of the kit a 3rd party will have one ready to ship before im ready to drive anyways.

+1 you said it best.
If I want an Ariel Atom, or a Lotus 11, I might as well get those kits.
A removable top like the Corvette, or Lotus Elise would be the best of both worlds. (Please no "T-Tops" - I don't have time to grow a mullet by the time I buy the kit. :p )

please direct me to the $15000 atoms
Do you really want me to link to Fran's SL-R page ;)
There are now many many exo kit cars in that price range, http://www.exocars.net/index.php go nuts, take your pick.

In fact, many that would be significantly cheaper than what the FFR 818 would be if it was 'just' an exo car for $10k!
I've just had a look at some of MEV's price list!

I've been to exocars..not many are made in america, or even available here. and those SL-R's look nice, but I think that by the time you have all the necessary parts to complete one you'd be past the $15000 mark set as a target by FFR.
I'm looking for a performance type vehicle that's easy enough to build for the first timer (have rebuilt a few Jeeps from the ground up, but never have done a component car) that this won't stretch out to a multi-year build and is also inexpensive enough to be a project that won't kill the budget
had been lusting after a FFR roadster for awhile and when they announced this new car it looked very promising
