I'm thinking of using a rotisserie to build up the chassis with everything but the engine, trans and tires. Can I use the quick jack mounts as pickup points or are they insufficient structurally to hold the load?

Thanks

Bill, A friend up here in the Central Valley did just that with his MKIII and it worked great. He used the same rotisserie for restore his 66 Mustang.

I found this to work just great. Note the blocks under the tires. The unit is rock solid without the engine crane in place. I just left the crane as extra insurance, but it really wasn't necessary. The whole shebang reaches a tipover point just before it rests on the tires, so it ain't goin' nowhere.

Hi Bill - I'm a little late with this post but thought I'd mention it anyway: We clamp to the X-member up front and use the rear quickjack mounts in the back. That can still be a fairy high amount of weight to leave sitting for a long time on there, but it would be stronger if you installed the trunk side walls first.
