Has anyone looked into lowering db output for the exhaust of a Coyote?

I am considering an insert for the J-pipe and or insert for her side pipes (car chemistry).

What can I expect re bd reduction?

Thx

I have not, but my experience so far is that the exhaust note is pretty darn mild (figuratively speaking) unless under heavy throttle. Around town, the Coyote seems to be pretty reasonable on the noise side. Just my experience after a few short trips.

The exhaust note is not bad and is a low rumble when at 2000 rpm however I am thinking that using inserts for the J-pipes to make the experience even better for the longer trips.

I will provide an update once I track down the best product.

I have custom sidepipes by Doug Marino in Fresno, ca. I am just returning from my first outing to the Huntington Beach Cruise in. Several people asked me " why is it so quiet"? it still is plenty loud but intentionally we made the muffler segment of the pipes 4" longer to try and pass sound restrictions at the California tracks, particularly Laguna SECA. Even at WOT it is quieter than the other Cobras...although still plenty loud! I hope to remain below 93 db which is the above mentioned sound limit. We'll see in about a month!

Jester,

With the J-pipes already being the most restrictive element in the exhaust, I'm doing this:

Like slider noted, the FFR pipes are loud when you get on it, but seem to be pretty quiet when cruising. I only have a bunch of go-kart miles though.

Thanks for the feedback.

I fabricated custom J-pipes which are not as restrictive as the FFR j-pipes and an insert may work however point taken on diameter possibility of too restrictive.

Easiest solution may be as per Tcoon or Clemson's post. I have a set of SS FFR side pipes and would like to know if these can be easily modified to reduce the DB's. I could ship my pipes for modification.

Tcoon - can you provide the contact info for Doug Marino in Fresno, CA??

Thx

I have put a few more miles on my Mk4 and with a little practice, selecting the proper gear for cruising around town and highway significantly reduces the DB from the side pipes and at this time I think that I need more seat time before I make any decisions regarding Mods to the side pipes. The more I drive, the more I like the rumble - very mild (low rumble -not harsh at all) in the proper gear.
