I could use some help. I have purchased a FFR MK3 with a 351 stroker with pro supercharger. MSD spark retard system. It has a Ford 9 inch. It’s Silver with black stripes. Who every built it did a great job. But I need to learning on the systems and the history of the car. I believe it may have been built in Ohio and sold to someone in South Carolina. Then I bought it in North Carolina. I would like to know the setup, the ins and outs of how it is wired and so on. Need someone I can ping question off of. I was sold by DC Classics Cars.

If you can get us the chassis number it might be possible to turn up the original owner/builder on this or the other forum. On a Mk3 look for it to be stamped on the 2 by 2 inch square tube that crosses side to side under the dash. It will be just to the left of the steering wheel, kind of above your left leg and will read "F5R100****RD" with **** being the sequential number that will identify the particular car.

Where in NC are you located? Lots of FFR owners in the area that can help you get up to speed on you car.

Hi Jeff
I went and looked. The 2x2 tube has been power coated and no numbers are showing. Are they facing the driver or on the bottom? If they are shallow, they may have been covered up with the power coat. I had a bright light did not even see an impression of a number.

Right here John:

When FFR powdercoats the chassis the numbers are taped off so as not to get covered as can be seen in the photo above. If the original builder had it coated elsewhere that may not have been done. The numbers are only in this location on Mk3 and Mk4, earlier cars have them welded onto the inside of the rectangular frame tube behind the driver. Are you sure it's a Mk3 and not a Mk2 or earlier?

It vary well may not be a MK3. I will take a look at the rectangular frame and see if I can find the number.

It vary well may not be a MK3.

Here's a quick identifier. Pop the hood and look at the steering shaft. If it comes out of the footbox below the master cylinder (this car has a brake booster also, yours may not) and runs directly to the steering rack as indicated by the red arrow it is a Mk3 or Mk4. If the shaft comes out through an oval hole (which may have kind of an elongated hood or shroud around it) in the vicinity of the blue arrow then runs to a chassis mounted bearing block before going to the rack it is a Mk2 or earlier.

That's it. It is a MK2 or earlier. Thanks Jeff that helps. I have looked at the frame behind the divers seat and still have not found any numbers. It has a ford 9 inch installed and some bracing welded in for the upper rear end links.

There are no serial numbers per say on the mark 1 and 2 but there is a frame number on the inside of the 2x3 tube just behind the drive and in front of the wheel. If you need help with the car my east cost shop is in Kannapolis just north of Charlotte and Travis has tons of experience with supercharged cars. Give me a call at 520-494-2745 and we can set it up.

Thanks Gordon, I believe I met Travis a year or so ago. He was moving your shop. I was debating to build or buy at the time. I obviously decided to buy, the deal was right I think. Now, I am trying to find out the history of the car and maybe learn how it was put together. You know how wiring can be. The car has switches under the dash and a red and green led light I trying to find what they are for. They may just be left over from something else no longer use. They do not seem to do anything. One switch is right above the retard control. I do not want to pull the dash apart at this time if I can help it. The car runs like a scalded cat and handles good. I just need to put my own touch on it.

Another possibility to find the FFR number is to check your title. Sometimes the states use the FFR# from the MCO as the VIN number for the car when they register for the first time. Some states assign a VIN number, but maybe you will get lucky when you check your VIN number.

Thanks lilnuke, the only # in the vin is 3122 or 3105. Is there a web site to check this out?

Hi Dan
Great people to work with at dc classics. Top shelf.
The SC is a Pro P1SC-2. I have sent Pro Supercharges a couple of emails. I am looking to get the set up and tuning info. You can defiantly tell its there when you hammer down. When at a stop light it has a faint charger wine. sounds good.
