fuel filler pipe question

Hi,
Cut fuel tank fill pipe and found a metal diverter inside instead of a hose. Metal was spot welded at top and bottom. Should I break the bottom welds and remove or leave this piece in place? I would think if left in place the top end may vibrate or rattle? Donor tank. Thanks for any help, Marlin

Remove it if you can. You will never hear it though if left in place.
