I put a 1 inch spacer on a 302 so I would have clearance for the valve covers and using the longer bolts from the kit, the 1st one I put in without tightening it developed a crack above the bolt on the rear passenger side. I had the plenum on and torqued down before realizing the clearance problem and all was fine. this time I just snugged the 1st one and it cracked. what is the best way to fix this so I can torque it when its fixed? thank you

Hi,

Is this a Carb or EFI 302? Is the spacer between the upper and lower plenum on a EFI motor, or between the Carb and Intake Manifold? Is the crack in the spacer or in the manifold itself? If it is in the manifold, you would be best to replace it as the crack could eventually spread even if repaired. You could try having it TIG/MIG welded, which would be your best bet to repair it.

Thanks
