I've been trying to get through the IRS install since November, and it's finally been warm enough to spend a few good hours working on it.
Today, I loosely attached the calipers and plan to go through and torque the whole rear end next week.
The manual calls for using loctite on the bolts connecting the adapter plate to the caliper.
I'm not familiar with loctite and am wondering how I will be able to loosen the bolts when I need to service the brakes.
Is it just a matter of using a heat gun, or will it be a major problem when the time comes?
Thanks

Loctite Blue will simply keep the bolt from loosening off, and there will be a minimal incease in torque required to remove the hardware. Red is a much firmer "grasp" Loctite, and will make it harder to get the hardware loose. I have never needed to, but a light application of heat will break the bond, if it is even required.

Use the blue when you are ready to tighten them for the last time. You cannot use Locktite and put together loosely, as the locktite will harden when it drys. Use the locktite then torque the nuts/bolts. You will be able to lossen Blue for service work but then re locktite when reassemble.

Thanks Kenny -
I'm planning to tighten everything up before moving on to the next step.
Is there any reason I should not be tightening this part up yet (with the exception of the joint where alignment get set)?
Thanks

at work soften locktite using very mild heat , heat gun or a inductive heater just enough to get the bolt or nut spinning

hrosenthal, I just noticed you are from Jericho, I live in Holbrook but used to work in Jericho. I am not all that familiar with the IRS set up as to what alignment get s done. But any mounting bolts should be locktitied. When in doubt locktite it. I have never had to use heat to overcome blue locktite. Very rarely ever use Red. Use red on wheel studs in an axle etc.

Thanks Kenny - I've run into a few long islanders on the forum. What do you plan to do for paint and body work?
