With the electric power steering installed and the 302 close to ready to go in, the exhaust issue raises it's ugly head. If you have experience with this header question, it would be a real help to me if you had a suggestion.
Thanks

I used generic tubular shorty headers without a problem. you will have issues if you try long tube headers or something else. Anything designed to fit the stock Mustang exhaust should work fine. Electric steering really more of a problem with the oil pan...you need to use a stock Mustang "2 hump" pan or replacement, and still may need to "clock" the power unit for clearance, I did. The area around power steering, oil pan, and oil filter is REALLY tight! I was able to use the stock filter location but needed a shorty filter.

I used the same stuff and had no problems at all. I got my headers and oilpan from summit.

Thanks guys . I ordered a set of BBK shorty unequal length headers fro Summit. Chromed for $200 delivered. Seems fair. Motor gets dyno'd next week. Thats the advantage of a local pro built motor over a crate engine. Start with a complete old motor and the man rebuilds and dynos it, right before your very eyes, you know it's going to be strong.

Ready to order headers for a Pro-Formance Unlimited 302/347 Stroker, 400 H.P. crate engine being delivered next week. And my 33' Hot Rod full kit will be leaving early next from FFR to here in Southern Calif.
Looking to purchase from Summit the Ford Racing Hi-Flow shorty headers Summit P/N: FMS-M-9430-SR302 @ $569 or the Ford Racing shorty P/N: FMS-M-9430-P51 @ $399. Question is: will either one of these headers fit
the 33 chassis using the optional dual rear exhaust system and I will be using the pwr assist steering option. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Bill I ended up getting rid of my Summit shorty headers and went with the ford racing shorty's. I had them ceramic coated bright silver. The worked great with my 5.0 and P/S.

I found out the hard way that the Ford headers are the best way to go.. I bought a ceramic coated pair from eBay and had fitment problems with the exhaust adapter attaching to the header on the passenger side. The Ford headers solved the problem.
