Hi All,

I posted here a few weeks ago. New dilemma, I have a 1989 5.0 out of a Mustang GT that I am keeping fuel injected and putting into a FFR Cobra. I ordered Ford Racing M-6000-C302, cobra valve covers. These are suppose to be for EFIs. I have upgraded to a 2000 Ford Explorer upper and lower intake and the new valve covers will not fit, they are too tall. I can buy a 1 inch spacer but do not know if that will be enough to solve the problem. Anyone been here before????? Spoke with tech at FFR and he was helpful just want to see if anyone has any other answers or solutions to this.

Factory five says that I do have enough room under the hood for the spacer.

Thanks for any input!

Yes, a spacer is the answer, but I am not sure if a 1 inch one is necessary with your setup.

JJ, There was another post on here yesterday, same question, and yes, those valve covers are EFI. I have the exact setup you are speaking of and there is no fit problem. No spacer, either. If the issue is the hard vacuum lines coming out of the very bottom of the upper intake, just pull them out and tap/plug them. They aren't needed, plenty of other vacuum connections under there. The third pic reminded me I also ground off the bottom corner of the throttle cable bracket. Didn't need much, but it was hitting the VC. Took the corner off just enough to make it fit.

The intake that you have looks like a stock mustang plenum. The one we put on is for

I had the same problem. My covers are a little different but look like a similar clearance issue. I used this (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-51520017) spacer and it worked well. Just one word of caution. When you use the spacer, the bolts are too short. The stock bolts only had 1/4" of thread and will strip out the aluminum threads when you torque them down.

Biil9, It's an Explorer upper & lower, the upper has been polished. Where is yours hitting? Do you have a pic of the one you are trying?

I used a half-inch spacer and removed all of the vacuum ports except one. I bought the spacer off ebay and it came with cut threaded rods and put SS acorn nuts on them.
I put a couple pieces of molding clay on the highest points and still had almost 1/2' clearance with the hood.
