Windshield Wipers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: Do the windshield wipers (looking out of the windshield) sweep right and park left -- or -- sweep left and park right? I'm getting ready to adjust mine. Seems as the first is correct but I am not sure.
Next - What is the sweep angle?

Before you put the arms and blades on the output shafts and sweep them across your fresh, new windshield, take a zip-tie and tighten it around the output shaft to give you a visual indication of what the arms/blades will do when attached.

I think the side on which they park depends on the orientation of the gear boxes. I may be wrong but from what I recall, if the cable is toward the back they park on the driver side and if the cable is toward the front they park on the passenger side. I don't know about switching the wiring...
I couldn't get the cable arc smooth enough with the cable toward the font so in my mockup I bent the cable conduit to fit a the back of the gear box. I may give it another shot on final assembly.

I'm not using FFR wiper system. I've got "Specialty Power Windows" wiper system which has a motor with 300 inch lbs of torque and the wheelboxes are twice the size as FFR's and have a poly spacer sandwiched between the two plates so no tweaking the boxes like FFR. I played with FFR's and finally got tired of trying to set the wheelbox clamps to center and moved on. The wiper system will be in my coupe yard sale when the car is finished hopefully this summer. The drive cable is also twice the size of FFR's and the motor assy has an adjustment for sweep from 90 degrees to 160 degrees in increments of 10 degrees. That's the reason I was looking for the sweep angle. You can also set right or left park with right or left sweep. The motor also has a park feature with a 12v separate connection. So again does anyone know the answer to my questions in the first thread.

hi bill-- i will tell you this week what the sweep degree amount is, but i tested mine for basic opeartion. When looking out the window from in the car, mine park on the right and sweep up to the left.

--- and i can probably guess that the sweep is just shy of 90 degrees

could we get some pic of it installed ? Have given up on the FF system and am looking for something better . How is it to install ? easy or a major pain like the FF wiper ? Looked at the Speical Power Window site and they are NOT to expensive$$

I'm sorry I do not know how to include photos with my threads. Have to say after installing FFR system, tearing it out and reinstalling the SPW system and SPW is so much easier. The only problem is you have to make all settings first before putting the body on as it would be most difficult to remove this assy with the body in place. Such as mounting the first enclosed tube to the 1st wheelbox. I solved this by making a short 4" tube with single flare at the motor end and double flare at the other end where I used a 3/8" tubing connector. When the body is on I'll just measure from the connector to the 1st wheelbox and make that piece of tubewith a double flare at the connector end and single flare at the wheelbox end. The connector fits the drive cable perfectly and I drilled the center out slightly larger to be safe. Test runs with the motor seem fine. The motor unit is smaller in size than the FFR motor and more powerful. I think this will work great. the motor and what I call the transmission assy swivel so you can attach the motor at any angle to fit your space. The cable drive and wheelboxes are much more robust than the FFR unit and appear to be very well made. The whole assy only cost $239 plus shipping which was $18 so very reasonable compared to FFR cost. If I had to do this over there are certain items I would delete from the FFR order, such as the wiper assys and brake calipers and discs amoung others.
