Last night, I went to the Wilbur Theater in Boston, MA for a screening of Kevin Smith's new film Red State which stars some great actors ranging from John Goodman to Melissa Leo (recent Oscar winner for The Fighter). It also has Kevin Pollak and Stephen Root in it, but the real scene stealer was Michael Parks. I really need to check out the TV series Then Came Bronson because I hear Parks was fantastic in that show and I dig his cameos in From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, and Grindhouse.
It was a fun movie that really mixes a lot of genres and I cannot wait to see it again when it's released in October. Definitely not a film for everyone, but if you've enjoyed any of Kevin Smith's other movies, (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back amongst others), then you'll enjoy Red State. He described it best as him making a Tarantino movie by way of the Coen Brothers and once you watch the movie, you know exactly what he means by that. It was a greet flick.
