In order to eliminate mine and a hundred other folks on here asking the same questions relentlessly. Could you provide the following info?

Is there any years of WRX donor that are guaranteed to work 100%?

Is the STI definitely in, definitely out, or won't know until XX/2011?

FFR thinks they should have a good handle on the required donor parts list by XX/2011?

I am a returning FFR customer (2 - Mk II Cobras) and I really need to know whether donor shopping can start now, or if just need to take a chill pill for at least 6 months. Thanks in advance for this awesome breakthrough idea re-igniting my passion for kit building;)

P.S. You already have my firm order!

Here, here. I too have the itch to start acquiring parts and have been waiting for something more official before doing so.

FFR is using a 2002 WRX as a donor to mock up the frame. for your information.

Serg, I think Jim bought a 2006 WRX and the parts from 02-08 are shared... BUT let me have Jim post some specifics (at least what he can post safely). Plus I know there are a ton of parts that are shared platform parts from the imprzza on up. Let me ask Jim to post.

I am really stoked about the new design. We had this concept for three years and decided to put resources into improving the product lines (Mk4, Gen 2 GTM, Hot Rod upgrades, and Gen 2 65 Coupe) while the economy was nasty. Now that the bulk of those changes are accomplished, we are turning our attention to the new design.

The key thing to know for us Subaru 'experts' is:

Was it a sedan or a wagon? Are you using any of the CV axles?

Of course, Subaru parts collectors can likely work around any donor situation.

I remember it was a black sedan WRX. The chassis is using the engine in 2wd mid engine layout with OEM parts/axles, but I'll have Jim correctly post.

Dave,
That would be great! I look forward to Jim's post. In case it is slipping by unnoticed i'll try to highlight an issue we're hoping can be determined early on. What a ton of people want to know is we know you are using a WRX SEDAN as donor 1, but what about the WRX 5 DOOR WAGON? The reason is that the sedan and 5 door wagon have different tracks! The sedan driveline being wider to fill the sedan only flared fenders (the 5 door wagons don't have flared fenders. This affects the CV axle lengths and possibly some suspension parts. This might make several parts of a WRX Wagon donor useless even though it is a true WRX and the same year as a WRX sedan. Make sense? Thanks.
