I have a MKI with Simpson restraints. They are getting old and may need to be replaced. The MKI has a single attachment point in the trunk and the belt makes a "Y" behind the shoulders. The new belts have two separate belts which requires two holes in the bulkhead behind the seats. I would like not to cut additional slots in the bulkhead and find a way to fasten the two new shoulder belts to a restraint on the roll bar. Any ideas how to do this? Anything out there already or has any one converted over?
Also, if anyone out there did not use their FFR supplied belts would you like to sell them?

I would prefer to see the belt webbing wrapped around that cross tube. I don't like the eyebolts and those massive clips that close to my head.

I didn't like the idea of routing the shoulder straps thru the back cockpit wall either. After seeing a harness load diagram from Simpson (looking at the submarine belt), I decided to mount a harness bracket between the 2 inch roll bar hoop. I haven't finished it. This was sort of an experiment so I wanted to be able to back out if it didn't look good or didn't work for some reason. So far I think it looks and acts like I invisioned. The only thing now is to drill and tap the rods and drill holes on the outsides of each roll bar to "capture" them and stablize the system using button head bolts. I don't know if it is possible to make this legel for racing but I do know the angles for the harnesses are safer in case of a real crash. In the original position using the low back seats, there is a real possibility of a shoulder or clavicle injury. WEK.

WEK...it looks like you haven't welded them in place yet. Can you weld the roll bar without taking it out of the car?

Hi Mike,
I hand fitted the peices in with a step bit. I could barely force them into place. So I will take them back out and drill and tap them. Then drill the outside of each roll bar and screw them in place. I think that will be a very solid connection when it is finished. If I want to make it acceptable for track regs or autox, I may have to weld or do something entirely different. But that is so far down the road, so to speak, I'm not too worried. Maybe you can ask one of your track buddies at Firebird next month at the track day event. I could copy some pics to give them a better idea. Thanks, WEK.

A friend welded a bar like WEKs out of the car. The welding heat tends to pull the base end of the tubes together a little. He was able to spread them back w/ a bottle jack.

The Y belts are still available if you want them. Several manufacturers make them still, including Simpson.
