ATS was an Italian company that was formed in the sixties after Ferrari's best employee's walked out and left the company, they included giants like Phil Hill and Giotto Bizzarrini. The company was formed around building a F1 car and a street car to compete with Ferrari. The F1 car had it's problems, but the street cars were quite impressive. ATS was one of the first mid engined cars built for the street it had it's own V8 power plant with a lightweight body and suspension. ATS was the the first super car well ahead of the Lamborghini Miura.
Today ATS is back in business building a track racer and another street car. The new ATS is powered by Subaru and has many things in common with the 818 project. Check it out and enjoy.
Germans invented the automobile,
Americans made it disposable,
Italians made it dance and sing.

Does "back in business" imply any connection with the original business, or has someone simply started a new auto company and bought trademarks once used by a long dead one?
Either way, interesting car. In both form and layout, it reminds me of the Subaru-powered "OSCA" someone tried to fund ten or fifteen years ago (having acquired the OSCA trademarks but having otherwise no connection with OSCA).

Looking at some of the older cars they are restoring I would guess there is a connection.

Its fully built to, developing over 500 hp.
I'd much rather get a bac mono over the sport 1000.
It will probably be really pricey. They are only building 12 2500 gts.

Very cool, my great uncle over in Genova Italy owned an older Ats street car, he also has older alfas and a few early ferraris, must be nice, yea pricey will be an understatement, he was a surgeon for 40 years and president of a few hospitals over there so he has the cake.

Ha ha Crawford. I guess it will still have that vintage Italian sports car reliability.

Wow he was a lucky guy, they didn't make many of the Stradale's. Were talking ten or less. ATS was way ahead of it's time with the mid engine design for the street. Chiti wanted to use a V8, Giotto Bizzarrini wanted a V12, keep in mind they were going to use it in the F1 car too, Chiti won, Bizzarrini walked. In fact Bizzarrini walked over to a new car company called Lamborghini ........and the rest is history.

encase there is any confusion, only the street car is made with the subi drive train, the smaller track car uses motorcycle engines.

He owned it for a short while back like 15 years, he collects cars and art, so he had made a trade with someone for it. I believe it is in a museum in Milan or something now, and worth 3-400,000k. I will have to ask him
