Hi
I noticed I'm missing a couple of the screws that connect the windshield frame to the sidearms. Any idea the exact dimensions of these screws? They don't appear to be standard Home Depot items.
Thanks

Not sure but take another out and to a good hardware store for sizing. They are easy to strip be careful.

10-24 x 3/8 oval head. How many do you need?

Hi JP,
I had a problem with my right side post when I took the windshield off several times to thread the side post holes (for the frame) to screw in instead of fasten with nuts. When I went to the hardware store to check the size for a tap, I found the fit was a little sloppy so I got a metric equivalent (sorry can't remember size) that fit tighter. I had the screw and the brass insert from the windshield with me so I tested it both ways. So I used that instead of the 10x24 tap. For me it was easier to get the screws started without crossthreading them when I was fitting the side post to the windscreen frame. I had to remove the brass insert and cut it to allow for places for new holes for the screws. Plus having the separate inserts made it much easier to line up the holes when you install the side rail by starting the screws and leaving loose. When you start the process putting the screws in, you'll see what I mean. Good luck, WEK.

Thanks y'all. Should be able to find that easily enough - we have an awesome bolt store in Austin. I will proceed with caution wrt stripping them.
I bought my Mk1 fully assembled and ready for action a few months ago with 58 miles on it. Generally whoever put it together did a brilliant job, but there have been a handful of things that needed sorted out. I'm hopeful that the screws are missing because the builder lost them over the 10 years the kit sat in his shop, but what do you want to bet the threads are stripped?
cheers

I'm pretty sure they're 5MM threads. Can't remember more than that, though. Our local Ace hardware store carried them.

Problem mostly solved, thanks. Of the 4 missing, only one was stripped. Good enough for now.
Cheers
