Got the big crate today. Looks quite stout, welds for the brackets look well done also. We just need to build the car around it now....

Painting time.
I would reccomend you spray some clear on the axle flanges. They will start to corrode. I live at the beach, rust happens fast here.
that is one item i wish we had purchased when we built. I did get a rebuilt 8.8 but not as nice...

Paint it with something you can replicate or redo yourself when needed, like chassis paint by POR-15 or Eastwood. Definitely use a primer.

It looks to be painted already, although the welds look like they could use a bit more:

I bought mine from Forte. Came all rebuilt with 3.73 gears, limited slip, brakes, etc and was painted!

x2 on the POR-15. I put two coats of black on mine (with a brush) and looks like it was powder coated.

That is not paint, it's just the coating that is on the bare steel.
