I went 'round-n-'round about whether to buy a complete turnkey version, source a new aluminum trailer from Featherlite and add the SE kit to it on my own, or just upgrade my fifteen year old trailer. In the end, an upgrade to my current steel open trailer made the most sense, since it's the right size, has new tires, is in great shape (other than needing a repaint), and will result in a pretty good savings.

Larry was great to work with throughout the deliberation process, patiently walking me through the many alternatives and options via e-mail and phone.

It will be 16' long and high enough to enclose my wife's '67 Camaro. The cover is black with a driver's access door and extra doors at the front sides for tie-down access.

I have to do some work on the trailer to get it ready, including closing-off the center area of the trailer, cleaning and repainting it (nice shiny black), and upgrading the brakes (currently just on one axle and I'd prefer both). Hopefully, it'll be a bit warmer around here once the kit arrives in 4 - 6 weeks and I'll be able to get it out in the sun and installed.

I'll post some before and after pics as soon as I can roll the trailer out of it's winter slumber.

A short light weight trailer with a light weight car on it doesn't really need dual axle brakes. You'll end up suing the controller to turn the brakes way down, especially of traction is a bit limited. The other issue is snow and ice. I've towed in icy weather before. With one axle brakes, the other axle is free to roll if you lock up the brakes. That keeps the trailer from coming around to the front.
