Here's how I beefed up the glass boards on my 33 so they would not get damaged when stepped on.

The other pic I put in the gallery shows most of the brackets for the frame, 4 bolt holes per side. I haven't designed the inboard brackets yet for the very ends of the outer tube. The back one will rest against/under the front tabs for the lower control arm. The outer tube at the front extends in far enough to catch the X-d part of the floor pan frame.

Will you put some kind of rubber cushion between the running boards and the new frame?

The tubing frame will have a 16Ga skin welded on and the ends of that will be folded down 90* and become part of the
sandwich where the fenders bolt to the boards. I am toying with the idea of lots of holes in the SM skin and then bonding
the glass boards to that. I have no experience with the adhesives they are bonding new cars together with so I am hoping
someone chimes in with pros and cons about that idea.
