I'm trying to remove/replace my old clear rear fender spats, made from 3M clear material, about 6 years ago. I can't get the things off...trying to start with fingernails under an edge just results in the material being brittle and breaking off in tiny bits. Using a heat gun turned everything into goo, with no success in getting the stuff to want to come off in the same form it went on. I was hoping it would just peel off in a sheet, like I applied it, only in reverse. Any ideas or success stories? Thanks, John Phillips

John, I have had very good results removing many different type of adhesives with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, Part # 08984. It will not harm paint at all, and is made by the same people who made your clear spat material. Available at almost all automotive paint suppliers.

Derald.

PS: The clear spat material is one application that I have not tried.
