Building a GTM using parts from both a C5 and a C6 donor. Using most of the C6 systems, Instrumentation, HUD, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Keyless entry, Door Poppers, etc.
Finished a Roadster last year and have been lurking on the site for some time. I really appreciate all the great information the forums provide, finally came out of the closet over on the "dark side" and like to participate in both venues. Took some time and put together the following Web site to document my builds. Many thanks to all who have contributed to the forums.

Finished my aluminum tanks and posted several step by step photos on my web site.
Also been working on several other areas of the car as well as dissecting the C6 harness. Working on a better solution to the plastic Toyota shifter, finishing modifications to the Magnasteer power rack, and preparing the extra LS7 engine for sale.

Laughed at myself and had to share!
I needed to use my lift so I re-purposed my Roadster Body Buck.
Not my finest work but it turned out remarkably sturdy although you won't find me working underneath.
I want to keep as much donor wiring in place until I'm ready to immediately transfer to the GTM.
Have also posted a few photos on my site of the solution I found to replace the plastic Toyota shifter.

Yes, the arms and spindles on a C6 are identical in geometry to the C5 and the spindles have a thicker beefier casting.

Although the geometry of the arms is the same there is a difference with the rear lower arms that may prevent it from being used.
The leaf spring mounting hole was eliminated on the C6 so there is no mounting boss for the lower coil over mounting bracket.
On the C6 the ends of the spring are not attached, they just ride on the arm.
I'm going to explore a solution for this but may choose to only swap out the spindles as they are a significantly improved casting.
As I swap out the arms I will photograph the parts side by side for reference.

That's a very slick and edgy way to arrange your gauges. Had you seen that before or just popped into your head? Neat anyway! WEK.
Been back working on the GTM for quite some time but been neglecting to post! You can see my progress on my site at http://www.aghcars.com/pages/build-gallery.php?cat=/factory_five_gtm
Burned myself out last year trying to install Lambo doors. Those who have tried know what I'm talking about. Convinced I could make it happen I wound up spending many many hours re-making and installing brackets believing that the next setup would work. Finally came to the realization that it would only work properly with significant modifications to the fiberglass on the door and body. Further after working with these hinges from the Vertical Door company I just wasn't happy with the stability of the door. I tucked my tail in defeat, re-welded on replacement hinge pivots and proceeded with the Factory Five hinges. They are very stable and work well with the C6 door latches as I have installed.
Lots of progress customizing and fitting all the C6 components - Door latches, Hatch latch, Magnasteer rack, etc.

Glad you're back at it. If I were to could go back or if there is another build in the future, I would definitely go with a C6 donor. The tech is better and easier to work with with.

Hi Arron.
Glad to see your moving forward. The wife and I are trying to make a trip in your direction. Can't wait to see your progress.
Progress on my second car is going slow as we'll. 108 degree days don't help with the motivation. I've got my body buck made and the body mounted to it. Just about got the body ready for primer. Then I'll start posting again.

Really appreciate all the time they spent with me, could have spent days talking! Very interesting to see the different ways these cars are built and customized.
One of the great things about building these cars is the friends you make along the way!

Attended SEMA last week. Awesome as usual! Combed for GTM ideas. Stopped by Ridetech and spoke to Britt Marolf who claimed to have already worked on the GTM suspension using the "ShockWave" coil over.
Anyone familiar with this?
Going to contact him for further info.
After visiting Mike and Vidal I see the need for the lift. I have gotten to used to the car up on stands. When you see the car weighted on the ground you realize it may high center on a speed bump!!

Hi Aaron,
It definitely will scrape the under belly and possibly crack the fiberglass at the front of the rear fenders.
You not only need a lift system, but you should also check into buying an under-body skid system from Russ Thompson. Russ is a vendor here, and you'll see his banners pop up from time to time.
I like Ridetech's products for Street Rods, but I'm not really sure how well they would be suited for the GTM. If you're still looking around for a solution, you should speak to Simon at RamLift Pro. The RideTech system requires that you have a good bit of room for the air tank, and control valves, which the GTM doesn't. The RamLift system is very compact and will help you get the nose up to safely clear common obstacles.
Not trying to tell you how to spend your money, but the combination of the two will help you survive steep driveway entrances and speed bumps, and in my oppinion is MONEY WELL SPENT.

This will end up being the most "production car" like interior we've seen to date i reckon. This and the Stig's, another awesome build. These kinds of builds make me feel incompetent with the way i did my GTM! But i like it! So keep em' coming i say to people out there.

Been working on several areas of the car at once; Hood, Hatch, Roof Vent etc. which are in various stages of completion. I get bored with one, move on to the next and then come back around.
Completed my fiberglass interior panels and have posted details on my site. Make sure to open the photos to see the complete copy.
Briefly, I used Gene's tape method to close up all the areas, used clay and foam to complete the shape and made patterns for the fiberglass shapes used to layup the completed panels.
Turned out great!

Just went through all of your pictures. Your panels are nice and you make it look easy. Still wish I had those door panels:cool:. Hope my quarter/window panels turn out as nice. Not looking forward to the messy glass work......
