New member looking to connect with other Roadster owners - West Coast of FL

Hello FFM Readers,

I'm looking to build a Roadster and am looking to hopefully connect with an owners group in West Coast of FL (I live in Sarasota). I'm 6' 3" and have ZERO experience under the hood, but have always loved this car since I first saw it 10 years ago and would like to take on the challenge with my son someday (hopefully soon!).

I just joined the forum yesterday and saw that I missed an event in Tampa a few weeks back and wished I learned about it sooner!

For any of you that, like me, love this car, but didn't have any mechanical experience when you started... where did you start? I see many terms on the forum that seem to make sense to everyone but me (haha). I think the build school will be a must for a rook like myself.

Welcome, Dan. There is a group of Cobra replica (all makes, but a fair number of FFRs) owners here in SW FL known as the Deeper South Cobra Club, an informal sort-of sub group of the Deep South Cobra Club. The larger group, DSCC, has a website with info on recent and upcoming events: http://deepsouthcobraclub.cloverpad.org/ . There, you'll see pics from the Nav-a-Gator cruise which Deeper South CC members, ranging from the Tampa area to Naples/Marco Island, participate in every January. I'm not familiar with who's from Sarasota, but there are at least a half dozen FFR owners in the Cape Coral/Ft Myers area. HTH.
