Got around to mocking up my AC compressor mount and have a couple of questions. The mount is inspired (copied) from another member here just slightly modified because I'm using a serpentine belt. Would 1/4" aluminum be strong enough to support this or should I go up to 3/8" or 1/4" steel? I have the aluminum on hand. Also can the little tab just bellow the head be trimmed off? This would let me clock the compressor into a more vertical orientation.

I used 1/4" steel. I left the tab.

Wonder where I got the idea??? So 1/4 is too thin? I'll see what else I can dig up.

I don't see why 1/4" aluminum wouldn't work. March uses it for it's pulley systems.

Mine is 1/4 steel. It's the one currently being sold by Whitbys.
