This is a nice solution to what I consider a piece of essential equipment in one of these cars. I had the good fortune to drive another builder's FFR for about 45 minutes before ordering mine. That drive took place on secondary New England roads at moderate speeds. The car had no dead pedal, and I can truly say I felt the discomfort of not having one half way through the drive. I kept trying to get a comfortable location for my left leg, to no avail. IMO, the pedal I see pictured here will work fine as long as the driver is keenly aware of the narrow clearance between it and the clutch pedal: a guest driver, for example would need to be reminded of that clearance.
The tightest pedal cluster I ever had on one of my cars was in a Lotus Europa. I regularly rode it to the racetrack with a friend, and we would trade off driving. On a few occasions, he could not drive the car because his shoes were too wide, and his clutch foot would also engage the brake! And so this dead pedal will work best for those of us with small, narrow feet.

Footbox width is a known issue with thes cars. I have bent and modified the clutch and brake pedal arms to gain room. I may cut down the Russ Thompson gas pedal to get a bit more. The dead pedal is a nice place to park the left foot while not clutching.

I found that with the angle my foot rests on my dead pedal, that the side of my shoe was rubbing against the carpet at the bottom of my footbox extension, and wearing it away.
If you carpet this area, you may want to add a rub strip there. I used a short, very thin section of black nylon plastic. I also added one to the throttle pedal side of the footbox, as the side of my shoe also rubbed on the carpeting. In both cases the rub strip compressed the carpet when attached, so they actually increased my foot room slightly.:)

Good idea. There are lots of ways do add a rub or wear area to the carpet.

After putting a few miles on mine, with no dead pedal, I feel the same as Pierre did during his test drive. I really like this idea and may have to act shamelessly myself.

Thanks, 3k, for bringing this up, and thanks, Jorge, for the idea. I didn't see your original post or I would have stolen it earlier. I added a dead pedal left over from a set of Mustang pedals I had in the garage. Got it done & took it for a ride this morning, much more comfortable.

Love these pedals. Would you be kind enough to tell me where to get them?
Thanks!

Those, I believe, are the ones designed and made by Russ Thompson, and are available directly from him as well. His custom made throttle pedal set up is also worth getting.
