This Forum is getting so many posts now it may be helpful for the admins to break it up into Sub Forums like the other Forums.
Especially as more people are getting their donors, more kit information being released, and the first kits shipping right around the corner.
The 33 seems to have a nice breakdown... at least a customer builds would be nice.
Just a thought.
I agree. There should definitely be a build thread sub forum.

That forum is in competition with this forum (like we need another one) and links to it are not allowed.

David, I think they were talking about THIS forum, just better organized. Isn't there a way to do that?

Xusia, I'm open to any and all ideas regarding sub forums. Do you guys just want a build sub-forum or something more along the lines of the '33 forum?
:)
I vote for a '33 like layout.

Just like the HR sub-forums. It's a joy to browse the HR sub-forums because of it's organization.
Please don't forget about the GTM sub-forum. I started a thread with this same request some months ago.

'33 layout, this car is going to need it, being that there are some many possibilities with it, sure there is going to be a lot to share with everybody:)

Agreed, we need some separate tech, body, upgrades, etc sub-forums for the 818.

For lack of a better place, I'll propose this here:
I suggest we un-sticky the two locked design contest threads. That is behind us but still is at the top of the list.
Other forums I'm on have the ability to show the US/world with location pins for the members. It this capability exists, it would be great to see where all the members live. I know there is the "where do you live" thread but who wants to wade through all that.

I like the single 818 format. I've built 18+ FFR cars and when I look at the Roadster forum, I can quick read the titles and tell which ones I need to look at at a glance. Now if I have to open the main open 33 forum then the 9 sub forums, how often do you think that will get done? Currently there are 20 threads in the main 33 forum, all could be placed in their subforums, some could be placed in more than one subforum. So right now you have to look in 2 different forums to have the best possible chance at finding your answer. And you still might not find that bit of info because it might be a sentence about wheels you need and it's in a "brakes" post in that sub forum. I think most of us can look at the 33 main forum thread title and know what category the OP is talking about. I think the subforums may have their place as an archive of great threads on their particular subject but I think they should be read only and threads should be forwarded to the mods for placement in the respective forum. But with virtually zero hands on knowledge on the 818 and a moderate knowledge base on the Subie drivetrain, the time for them is still months away.

That actually makes sense!
The '33 sub forums, probably has too many.
I can see having a sub forum for Customer Builds and finished builds.

I have little luck with the search engine... so having things categorized would make finding old posts much easier.

ya..too early for sub forums on the on the 818....I don't like the split approach anyway..don't like it on the 33 and don't like it on the NASIOC forum...what might help is a specific classifieds for the 818 since none of the parts transfer over to any of the other kits FFR make, like the coupe to roadster, to 33...you could use all the same transmission, rear end, brakes and such...not so for the 818. So maybe just a split there...but I'm with Wayne on this you could have a thread about a wheels that also resolves an issue about brakes or something like that..and what might be so clear to one guy that this is an obvious wheel issue, might actually be a brake issue in the mind of another... leave it as is, is my vote and look to add a 818 classifieds section...so we can help eachother with left over parts and such.

I can see it both ways. As has been stated, perhaps sub-forums for things like builds & tear downs, classifieds, etc. - things where the topic is well established and that people may want to skip.
On the other hand, maybe fix the search? Having a working search would alleviate a lot of the issues being discussed here.

Doesn't the wiki build tech section cover some of what's needed? If sub-forums were to be created, shouldn't it be split in very broad headings Ie drivetrain, paint, interior ect.
