I think the only thing that will work is the engine. Maybe the trans too bu not sure. Since your buying a complete kit, you really don't ned a donor. Find a decent 87-2004 engine transmission and rear end.

The engine is about it. Nothing else works. If you have a complete kit you will need the engine from your 67 along with a later bellhousing, trans and rear end.

Engine would be OK but the trans is a 4 speed and that is definately not the way to go.

Hi Nick,
The 67 Mustang engine along with the salvage title to that 67 Mustang will work. You can install a T-5 or TKO and the FOX 8.8" rearend with no issues. Paul Davis at the Mass DEP is who told me these bits of information.

Umm, a top loader four speed should do the job just fine - unless there is some conflict with fitting the tunnel?

Overall, tho, if the 67 is a runner - then it's worth more to sell it and buy the engine, trans, and rear end. And if you tear it down and sell it as parts, even the stripped unibody can sell with a title. You'd likely make more money on it doing that than anything, but it's time consuming. 67's are collector items since the baby boomers started restoring them.

A 94 donor Mustang would net all bolt in parts, the kit was engineered around it, including the disc brakes, etc. Better to use engineered solutions than be stymied with parts never meant to be incorporated into the build. It would add another layer of difficulty at a time when it would be better to get it done and him driving it. I don't think anyone makes adapters to use '67 spindles and disc brakes. They are disc, right?

I'm staring down 60 in a week or two, old men don't have the rest of their life to build. They only have a finite window of opportunity, health is a serious interference in the long run. Better he drive it to the London show once rather than wish he did while he was here.

Likely have to present that in a low key manner, some old guys get cranky and won't listen. Ask me how I know. :)

I hear ya tirod, he's in his late 50's as well. He already has a 67 Mustang with a mild cammed 289 in it that he was thinking of using for the mkIV, and was recently looking at buying another 67 that is local, and use that car as a donor to restore his driver. So we werent too sure about using the other stuff for the mkIV, hence this post. He doesnt like to cut corners so after the helpfull info we wont be using anything other then the motor. Ill just source out a tremec t-5 or tko and a proper 8.8 rearend.
