Hello everyone. Does anyone know if the 818 uses the factory impreza (wrx) anti sway bars?

I did search for a while and found no definitive answer.

Thanks

I'm curious on why they would leave them out, I see no benefit to not running them on a track car.

That frame is very rigid and has no real need for them.

Sway bars are needed in 'normal' cars with suspensions tuned for more comfort and a higher CG. The weight of the 818 is so low, and with firm adjustable coil-overs they really shouldn't be needed.

just for clarification, I asked this question simply to know what I will need to keep from a donor.

I would keep them for now, just in case. I sold mine only because they were massive aftermarket bars, but kept the brackets. There isn't a huge market for sways and they don't take up much room on the parts rack.

Chances are you won't use them. None of FFR's kits have swaybars AFAIK.

I do not have a donor yet. I am just getting a better idea.

One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

Maybe some additional nomenclatures will help here. Sway bar, anti-sway, roll bar, anti-roll bar and stabilizer bar are used synonymously.

The primary purpose of anti-sway bars are to reduce body roll in a vehicle. They also have their roll in tuning the vehicle's suspension.

My advise is to keep them and their components if your donor has them.

The GTM kit does not include them, however many of us have added them.

Since the kit was designed w/o using a sway bar I think it is safe to say that it will be unlikely that you would want or need to add one that is the same rate as the original bar from a wrx or impreza. I have kept mine since it is of little value and I'm keeping it safely stored with other extra parts.

The "S" version might easily come with one depending on how FFR has set up the camber curves and how much "softer" it will be sprung and valved than the "R". If the "S" is soft enough to roll out of an ideal contact patch, the FFR may very well decide to use a sway bar - especially on the later ECO versions that will place more emphasis on streetability and ride quality.

A couple of corrections to the above info.
The elise and exige both have front sway bars.
The FFR Challenge car has a sway bar. I put them on my original FFR roadster with IRS (street car) which let me run softer springs than a track dedicated car while maintaining crisp left right transitions.
I would not throw away/sell off any of your suspension pieces yet.
Since the below is a pic of me, How did you know I use that phrase? wleehendrick, Get out of my head! :D
