Hey everyone,

We're starting to put together some build videos as a new reference for people currently building a Factory Five Mk4 Roadster. So far, we have uploaded videos on the kit inventory and body removal process of the build. You can check them out below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnJdjMKDC_g

We'll continue to post the latest build videos to this thread, or you can subscribe to the Factory Five YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWvfrZxPoPnbmHRjXTlVS-CVcPoK4x6lB&feature=view_all) and get notifications sent to you when a new video has been uploaded.

Very cool Dan! Dave and I were just discussing these last night on the phone while Scott was loading up the FFR semi. I didn't realize you guys were ready to go with them so quickly! Looking forward to more...

What a great idea!! A video build log done by those who know best!!

Next, we need to add some videos of the mods that folks do as well. Maybe start with the ten most popular, and see how that is received.

I really like the initiative, and I think it will be a great resource! Super idea and good for you. You all sure have been busy!

Regards,

Steve

This couldn't be any better timed for me! Inventory and body removal tomorrow. :D

I was terrified when I saw how much the body flexed at the back when it was lifted off. Now I've seen that, I won't be so afraid when I give it a go.

Looking forward to more of these vids! And sure enough, I didn't make a note of the quick jack spacer orientation when I removed the body. DRAT! :(

And to think I was so gentle with help on all four wheel wells when I took the body off the chassis...kind of makes you not worry about it as much

i watched these right when they went up. Very cool idea and i think it will put some new buyers at ease.

However, for my next build I have been watching the following how to videos and this company seems to be the leaders in the replica car game. My question for factory five is, will you ever have an option where we can build the car using a camaro, corvette , MR2 Or pinto chassis? I would assume your kit would include the saw and sledghammer to fit the body on? What about the 8" wheel spacers? Oh man, i am really getting excited!

Here is another one of their videos. They have some REALLY good ideas. Maybe you guys can steal some ideas from their videos for your videos?

Great videos! And I'm certain the complete set (when done) will be immensely helpful to many builders.

Only suggestion I'd make would be ... rather than using a Crescent wrench (e.g. installing the grease fitting into the ball joint, etc), it'd be much better to take a minute and find/use the correct size wrenches.

IMHO - improperly sized Crescent wrenches are a sure-fire way to round off nuts and bolts - and are NOT what an FFR build deserves!

Thanks again for the time and effort in putting the video's together!

Lynn

Edit: Thanks for making the change to use properly sized wrenches - and for having tossed the Crescent wrenches that were in the original version of the front suspension video ....

It would also be useful to make sure to tell people to use a torque wrench and do these per spec...

Yes - that would be excellent. The videos are great for us visual folks and can also show perspective and orientation of the parts and how they fit in relation to the other nearby parts.

Looking forward to more good stuff!

Wow - it's been a while since we last got a video posted, but we've been working hard to get the next one completed while also having a busy summer show schedule. We've just finished uploading Episode 8: Pedal Box Install and you can view it below.

We put a pause on our Roadster build-up series as we worked on the 818s for this year's SEMA Show, but we're now back in full swing on getting our office Mk4 Build Series videos uploaded. Here's the latest episode where tech guy Dan Golub installs the fuel tank. We've got the next couple of episodes filmed and will post them shortly.

Sorry for the long delay between videos everyone. With all the other projects going on around here (and a slightly hard drive technical problem), we have finally finished the next installment and have another video being edited. Here's the video for the Brake Line and Reservoir install.
