Guys,

I've been out of the office for a few days and thought I'd share what I've been up to.

Last weekend, I traveled to Vegas with Jim and Tony from Factory Five. We brought two Mk4 Roadsters, a Type 65 Coupe, and a ’33 Hot Rod for some track testing against an all-wheel drive, 550 HP Lambo.

Hot Rod Magazine covered the adventure and you can read more at hotrod.com (http://blogs.hotrod.com/can-a-kit-car-beat-a-lamoborgini-we-thrash-factory-five-cars-in-vegas-hot-rod-unlimited-45499.html#_axzz2Ja9m3cQs). The action will also be broadcast on Hot Rod Unlimited on the Motor Trend Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/MotorTrend?feature=watch).

Do you feel a little bad for picking on a company with such a small R&D budget for their cute little cars :o

Can't wait to see the results

David,

With Audi engineering today's Lambos, the cars are very well built. I'm not really the Lambo type, but I was impressed with the track times of the car. The Lambo was driven by one of co-owners of Exotics Racing and the FFR's were driven by the guys at Hot Rod and one of their drivers. I wasn't wild about the fact that the Lambo driver KNEW every inch of the track and was obviously familiar with the car, whereas the Hot Rod guy had to learn the track and also learn our cars and come up to speed in half a day... The reasons they wouldnt let anyone drive the Lambo (even though they rent em every day!) was liability as we were running flat out racing.

I can't tell you what happened, but I can tell you that we had an absolute blast, and that NOTHING was held back and the cars were flogged mercilessly. I can also tell you that the guys at HOT ROD were awesome to work with and super fair the whole time. The crew at Exotics Racing were also super cool and gave us free access to the track and the place is doing ALOT of business! When you see the episode you'll just be left slack-jawed at what a modest FFR can do at speed! You might also want to go thru the Exotics Racing experience like 30,000 (!) other people did last year!!!!!

In the end its just so cool that we are comparing, testing and evaluating Factory Five's with this caliber of car. After all the track-torture, I tossed the guys from Hot Rod the keys to the cars and said, go have fun in Vegas and they drove them on the street all night!

I had a blast and, like so many other times I've had here at Factory Five, I found myself wondering how its possible that I actually do this for a job! The show airs in two weeks. Thanks to all you guys for the job.

I can't wait to see how the 33 does, I think the front mid engine layout is great. Also the front suspension geometry is really cool.

Dave-

This is so freaking cool! What an awesome opportunity to match-up your cars. I bet everyone had a blast that day. Way to think way outside the box and have a kick butt day at the track at the same time. I can't wait to see the results; just for kicks.

Just awesome!!

Regards,

Steve

We were there for three days and it was a BLAST times a million! Plus I got to hit In-and-out Burger twice! The cars ran hard and fast and really showed what we do. I love Hot Rod Magazine. When I was a kid in Puerto Rico it was the first magazine I ever bought (my brother and I split the cost with newspaper route money delivering "The San Juan Star". In 2009 we were on the front cover and THAT was cool! Hanging with those guys was alot of fun. There was a big surprise at the drags but, I cant really elaborate!

I can't wait to see the results and if Dave ends up with a pair of "Lambo chops" swinging from the roll pan on his roadster

Cant wait to watch the results Dave. It makes sense that you did not bring the GTM or 818 because the Labo would not stand a chance.
