Well just wanted to say Hi and introduce my self, my wife and I are looking at building a GTM for our 10th wedding Anniversary present to each other. We were going to do a cruise or a vacation but really how much enjoyment do you get out of those once they are gone. We have already requested the brochure from FF, and I've ordered the online manual and read thru it. We were looking at building an Exocar but due to the fact that we both ride motorcycles and would more then likely like to take those when they are nice we decided we needed something enclosed, which lead me to either the SLC or the GTM.

Seeing as the car will mainly be street purposed maybe a few track days here and there if I can find one out here in the boonies! The GTM looks won my wife over more so then the SLC. This will be our first car build together so we'll take it slow and steady to make sure everything is done right and to our standards. This won't be the first build together as we just last year stripped my bike (05 Vrod) to the ground and rebuilt it. So I'm pretty decently mechanically inclined (Vrod's engine was stroked and bored, cam'ed, etc...) and she's really good with keeping the spending in check and and eye for depth and evenness which I hear on the GTM will be a good thing with the body panels, as well as picking out the color and such since I'm colorblind lol!

So we'll be lurking around the forums trying to gather as much knowledge and info as we can over the next year before we order our car.

Haha! We just barely broke the 30's today! Going down to Tampa tomorrow so I'm headed to (hopefully) 70 degree weather :D!

Wow, that is a pretty awesome bride you have there!! Building a car for an Anniversary present--holy cow!! Good for you, and please keep us updated on your build. I will ask the question I am sure is on the minds of many guys on the forum--- does she have any sisters? Good luck and stay warm!

Regards,

Steve

Hi Demthios, I lurked for a long while too.

Building your own car is such a rewarding experience. Lots to learn from the community here. We all share ideas and our cars turn out better as a result. I started out looking at a cobra, then a coupe, then finally the GTM. Once i saw one in person and sat in it, I was completely hooked.
I will build a coupe, cobra and 818 too. I just need to finish the GTM first. (thats my wife's rule)

You are going to love this build.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Yeah I have to admit my wife is pretty awesome, my best friend is always dumbfounded with what she'll let me get away with. For example when I stripped the bike down to the frame she let me wheel it into the house and use the spare bedroom, and even helped me turn some wrenches as well. Sadly WIS89 she is an only child, I have other friends that are in line for a clone if they ever allow it , so now for the bad news is that I have to wait till our ten year to buy the kit which isn't till 2015. So I have two years to lurk and learn before getting started, but during that time we are looking at moving out of our current home so that will keep me busy at less. ;) And this year's big "project" that I get to do is I'm climbing Mt. Rainier with my older brother in July so training hard for that. Thanks again guys and look forward to looking thru the great build logs and threads.
