This first picture where I am pointing my finger is the step that sticks below the radiator from the big back piece. What is for? I'm half tempted to cut it off. It doesn't hang below the 4" frame tubes but it is below the nose.

These next two pictures are of the big "U" shaped piece that wraps around the radiator and forms the forward ducts. In the second picture I am pointing at the piece that wraps around the bottom of the radiator. This doesn't seem to attach to anything and seems like it would be flapping in the wind. I'm thinking of cutting this piece off as well and just using the side pieces. What have other people done??? Please voice your comments and concerns.

looks like the flap might be used as a scoop to help move air into the radiator. it must be there for a reason do we trust F5?

I think those two pieces get riveted together. I could be wrong though. I plan to tackle these prices this weekend.

maybe the right angle flap gets riveted to the bottom of the right angle piece to give the bottom of the horizontal piece some righty.

That is what it looks like, but I'd have to make a piece to span the gap. I still don't see a function for it though. If it was even with the nose I could see making a piece to span the gap to the nose to help seal the radiator air off. I still may do that anyways.

I cut the middle out of the U shaped piece then added a piece of angle aluminum that I screwed to that bottom edge of the large back piece and ther corners of what was left of the U shaped piece. Take a look at the photos in the link below.

jkrueger, what finish did you apply to the radiator aluminum?

CJ- Thanks for the pictures that helps a lot. You all have convinced me not to cut it off.

tfalk - no finish, just bare dusty AL.
