302 Ford and AOD question

Getting ready to buy a 302 Ford motor and trans. What's the best AOD shaft length? There are long and short versions.

Any 302s better than the others for a street car looking for 300HP? I am probably going to a carb , not EFI.

Best oil pan? I have heard/read conflicting opinions. What fits the best?

Also is anyone used a tire taller than 26" on a fenderless 33. With the 5 lug rear the wheels are an extra 1" or so further from the body. I'd like to go taller but am warned the body may interfere.

If you have dealt with these questions I'd appreciate your comments.

I ended up using a 5.0 from a 93 donor mustang. I converted to carb and used the ford S/B racing oilpan from Speedway. It fit great and will work with the P/S according to guys who have built 33's.
