I'd swear we've covered this but I may go with something to match my VH style Miata

Since I am 100% going with vinyl wrap. I will be going with one of these three colors. I am favoring the satin Velvete pearl.
I will be going wih gun-metal wheels no matter which vinyl I cloose.

i like whatever white that is, ive always loved how clean, smooth, and classy a pearl white looks im just gonna go with whatever option we have for colors (if any) at first then once i do all the other mods i want going to spend some serious time looking at vinyl wrap colors and a white like that is going to be on the list

The wraps come 60" wide and sold by the foot. A 50' roll (enough to do the 818) will run about $500.00. At that price, change color as you wish.

Like Steven of Riptide Motorsports, I am also likely to do a knock-off of the blue and white SEMA car -- except that it will be on an 818S instead of an 818R. Should look pretty much like my Avatar.

How does it hold up to road wear? I've wondered if it stands up to the random rock or flying debris you get hit with on the highway.

I'm hoping that FFR's goal of an acceptable no-paint panel is achieved. Fiberglass gel-coats are the norm as the final finish in marine applications, so processes for molded-in color/finish are certainly possible, with a little elbow grease to polish it out, of course!
That being the case (and to keep on the topic of the thread) I'd be happy with a nice red, yellow or blue and plan on accenting it with flat/matte (or satin) black areas on the hood and rear fascia. I love the look of matte black, but an entire vehicle can be a bit much... the contrast of matte vs. gloss really accentuates each other and makes it pop (as on the red 458 Italia above in post# 6).
I don't expect the finish on the pre-colored panels to be at the same level as an automotive clear coat, but with a little bit of work I hope to achieve a custom look without the expense of custom paint.

I have no actual knowledge of how it will hold up. I do know this, 1) The vinyl has a 7 year outdoor guarantee. 2). With the 818 panels being so small the wrapping should be easy (no need to do fixed large panels like on production cars) and 3). I have seen the production splash panels at FFR and they are impressive to say the least. They truly look like paint.
My understanding the first few 818 will be the splash gel coat with the infused panels soon there after. I for one would prefer the gel coat. With the cost of the vinyl, changing my mind on color is not a big deal or cost.

I have always been partial to the Martini paint scheme. For the 818, get it in white, and add the solid stripes in vinyl. Much more cost effective ($200?) than a complete vinyl wrap ($2000?).

I was looking around at wheels and stumbled onto this one (http://www.carid.com/xxr-wheels/525-black-machined-451602.html). I'm thinking of painting my car red and these wheels would be a nice (& cheap) option!

Here's the basic idea for mine, metallic dark gray with BBS-LMR wheels. Will probably offset it with a little bit of carbon fiber here and there, and maybe some other accents. Not sure yet.

Wow, that's a nice combo.
I've been wondering how this body material will be to prep and paint, compared to metal or fiberglass? Will it take special prep precautions and/or steps? Is there a special paint or primer needed to adhere properly to the plastic?
