I remember reading somewhere that the oval type air cleaner will not fit on a carbed 302 in the coupe, is this true ?

I just tried one on my carbd 347 for a giggle ( my engine came with a normal round one, but i had bought an oval one used just to try). -- the problem is that it doesnt fit under the firewall cowling -- and wouldnt look right even if it did.

Mine fit. You have to get a blank base and relocate the carb hole to the rear. Fits under the hood fine and is about an inch away from the cowl lip.

Like Bill said the stock filter does not work, but you can make it work much like the rest of the build!

I used an oval filter from a dual quad configuration. I searched all over but this looked to be the best solution. I blocked off the front carb opening which moved the filter forward. I clears the back scuttle that way. Used a 351 with victor jr. Raised the hood bubble 2 inch.

Tony,

I think you might be talking about a roadster, not a coupe ...
