I dropped my body off at the painter last week and the progress is going well. We should be looking at the stripes in a couple of days and then the colour on the body. I took these pictures last night when I stopped by.
This is something I have been waiting for since I started.

Clear coat went on today. All that is left is buffing and polishing. Oh and of course the interminable 2-3 month wait for winter here in the frozen north to be over. I am very happy with the colour considering the time it took for me to decide on the 20 shades of orange I was given to chose from.

I really like the color you have picked. What is it exactly?
Thanks

Lol. At this point being a guy all I know it was orange. I chose from a number of chips. I do know it was Sherwin Williams but I will get the code number and post for anyone that is interested. My Painter is a small shop out in Wendover, east of Ottawa called Edgar's Collision.

I am patiently:mad:(not) waiting for my kit to be picked up from F5 for delivery. I have been reading every post I can and trying to narrow down what color I would like to paint the car. I would really like to do something different like you have done but I am worried I wont like it a few years down the road.

So how much is the paint job costing? I'm always perplexed at the cost of some of these jobs, you would think it wouldn't be that much since there is not that much to do except prep and spray as opposed to a full size car which has to be masked. Care to share the price.

My paint job included some body work so it wasn't just paint. I do disagree somewhat with thinking there is not much to do. When you consider that it was first sprayed with high build primer and then block sanded with the resultant filling of any low spots, then a final primer, three coats of base colour, aligning and masking out the stripes and then 3 coats of the main colour. That was followed by wet sanding with 3 grits ending at 3000. Two complete buffs (medium and then fine). For me it all came in at about $6000 +taxes. Of course each car is a bit different, the completeness of the prep by the builder so giving a price that is comparable is tough. For example I did all the work of rolling the fenders, gapping the doors, hood and trunk and the basic filling of the parting lines etc.
I did find out today that my main body colour is a Fiat orange and the stripes are a Mitsubishi colour.
