FFR use to sell a carbon fiber dash and I ended up experimenting with a number of materials and processes until I got a dash that I liked that was covered in real carbon fiber laminated to the FFR aluminum dash. Is there a need/demand out there for other owners if I were to fabricate more?

I saw your trunk pics in the gallery and I also covered my fuel tank access panels and battery box cover in carbon fiber. I covered the trunk in a orange colored bed liner material to match my gauges and will be using black rivets.

It is a carbon fiber laminate with a 3M adhesive vacuum-bonded to it (.5 MM) from Protech Composites.

Hi cgundermann,

I can see one of those dashes as a second generation mod my roadster. I already have several changes lined up when that time comes (probably not a big surprise). I think most people are thinking of updates and mods for these projects as they go along. So do you have a ball park figure? I guess you plan on being a vendor here, right? I'm not sure about the details on that so I will leave that to you and the administrators. So I would be interested. Thanks, WEK.

How did you handle the transition from the dash face to the lip? Did you wrap around it and (if so) how did you get it to stick?

It looks like a pretty tight radius.

It is flush to the edge and I painted the bottom lip with Herculiner. It looks good, I can also use a thinner carbon fiber laminate and make the bend nicely. I like the .5 MM versus the thinner to make the bend, because it covers any imperfections better.

Really nice work and I like the custom gauges too. For any of you that are thinking CF but maybe not wanting to go real obvious here is a thought. A friend did the original CF dash offered by FFR for his mkII. Standard CF dash and gauges that were standard at the time. His different take was to clear it in a satin rather than a gloss. I was surprised how well this worked as i didn't notice the CF dash until the second walk around the car.

Beautiful! My only hesitation is the reflective quality; maybe the satin clear would meet my needs. Was thinking od a tiger maple dash; now another decision....@###!*&** Forum!
