I'm intending to have my MK4 body work and paint done professionally. What I'm trying to figure out is how much more work do I do before I turn it over to the body shop? I'm at Go-Kart stage so know it runs, and have insulated the firewall, cockpits, etc. Aluminum is all in, wiring is done, dash is on temporarily. Should I build everything and install seats, carpet, etc before it goes to body shop and paint, or do I do the final dash, carpet and all later? I just can't see how to keep the dust out of the carpet if I do that first...

In fact, if anyone has a project plan or checklist of what they'd suggest needs to be completed prior to bodywork, and then post body work, I would appreciate that a bunch.

Thanks for the thoughts.

If you are using high back seats fit them with the body on, otherwise it sounds like you're ready to send it for paint. While the body is off for paint clean the dust from the chassis, button everything down then install insulation, carpet, seats, belts, etc. Once the body goes back on for the final time you'll just have to install the under door aluminum and the two small associated pieces of carpet.
