That IS the 1/4 scale clay model of Xabier's popular design -- just seen from a different perspective than most of the photos we were provided with back when the models were revealed.

Looks a lot like the current 818 IMO, which I think was intentional.

I really like this design better due to the "wing". Even if they marketed this one without a hard top it'd be much easier IMHO to design/fabricate one than with the current one. But, I still can't really complain about the current 818 due to its price!

Looks a lot like the current 818 IMO, which I think was intentional.

During the design contest, this car was my personal and clear favorite, and I really hoped they would build it. But I agree that the selected 818 shape borrowed heavily and intentionally from the Xabier design, and it is one reason that it looks so good, and why I'm on the pre-order list. I'll build it happily.

That view reminds me of the Ferrari F50 sans gian wing.
