I did it!!

Finally got those frickin' brake lines finished. Wow, that took only 5 months.

I started last July and my first attempt was using a single-flare approach on the lines... BAD IDEA. I regrouped after buying better tools online (nothing in my local store). And today removed all lines with joints, re-flared using double flares, re-installed and bled the brakes.

They work! No leaks.

OK, you can laugh now. Here are some pics for the new guys who are about to run their lines. Hope this helps.

Lessons learned:
1) Use flexible braided line, not mustang OEM banjo on rears.
2) Use Double flare, not single flare for all joints.
3) When double flaring, use a hell-of-alot of torque on the flare tool to clamp the line into place, otherwise it will jostle in place while flaring. I used a crowbar to tighten, made all the difference in quality.

Oh man, I feel bad for you.
30 years ago I was rebuilding a '67 mustang. I had braided lines custom made at a local speed shop for less then the OME banjo lines

I believe you need to use a remote resovior with the power brakes. Once the body is mounted, you wont be able to get the cap off and put fluid in it the way you have it now.

I hated doing the brakes almost as much as the wiring.

Dan : wow, thanks!

Can you recommend a product link? Something from Breeze or Fortes or Summit?

Congratulations on finishing your brakes, it was a milestone for me that I was glad to finish as well.
I was going to recommend the same thing on the brake reservoir, getting to that one with the body on will be a challenge.
I ordered a double CNC reservoir from Fortes and the M/C caps from Lodestone http://Lodestone Billetworks/ (http://lsbilletworks.com/) (look under FFR Specific Parts / MC Convert Nipples). Also make sure to tell Mike you need the fittings and hose.

I like mine.

MPTech -
Do you have a measurement or a better description of your reservoir mounting location? I am not there yet but am taking notes for my build.
Thanks.

Glad to help. One thing I kept in mind when building my car was "how will I get to this part - or remove it - when the car is done?".

For example, there were some suspension bolts on my first car (MK1) that would have interfered with the rear cockpit all if you put them in with the bolt head facing one way. If I hadn't thought about that, I would have had to cut the bolt off when I upgraded the upper arms later one.

It's hard to visualize some things, but think about that all throughout the build.
