I did it!!
Finally got those frickin' brake lines finished. Wow, that took only 5 months.
I started last July and my first attempt was using a single-flare approach on the lines... BAD IDEA. I regrouped after buying better tools online (nothing in my local store). And today removed all lines with joints, re-flared using double flares, re-installed and bled the brakes.
They work! No leaks.
OK, you can laugh now. Here are some pics for the new guys who are about to run their lines. Hope this helps.
Lessons learned:
1) Use flexible braided line, not mustang OEM banjo on rears.
2) Use Double flare, not single flare for all joints.
3) When double flaring, use a hell-of-alot of torque on the flare tool to clamp the line into place, otherwise it will jostle in place while flaring. I used a crowbar to tighten, made all the difference in quality.
