Oil Filter Relocation

Opinions please...My engine is is 347ci with oil filter mounted on the block (normal position)....I seem to be able to get to it fairly easily. Why would I relocate it? Any advantage that I'm not seeing? Seems just two more hoses that may leak.

The relocating kit included is a must if you use shorty headers and J-pipes, as the headers mount backwards (collectors forward) like a turbo kit. If you are using the BBK 4-into-4 headers you have plenty of clearance to leave the filter on the block. I have a sandwich adapter for the oil cooler and still plenty of room to thread the filter right on.

You can also use a 90 degree adapter to angle the oil filter down. This avoids use of the relocator and has worked well for extended duty use in endurance racing.

Thanks for the replies - my problem still is thinking everything supplied with the kit (eventhough I have not many parts already) should be used. Yes I'm hoping to get away with the longer/higher mounted headers. Walter

I'm using the 90 degree adapter with the short oil filter (purchased from Mark at Breeze Automotive) on my 410W with Ford Racing shorty headers (I fabricated an under car exhaust system) and there is plenty of clearance. I had thought about the remote filler but found the adapter to be much simpler, i.e., less connections to leak. Ernest is so right about the leftover parts. I now have a large plastic tub full of them.
