Decided to do a 4.6 donor build....but restoring every part.. And using brand new everything. We have restored this 50000 original mile from a 2000 gt with all new gaskets...new alternator, pulleys, starter..everything..even the bolts. Every part on this car is going to be new or restored back to new. Here are a few pics of the motor so far142501425114252

Looks beautiful! Do you have to use all the pollution control stuff like the EGR & vapor recovery systems where you live? The 4.6 can be cleaned up a lot if you don't need all the little tubes. You'll love that engine - plenty of power, deep throaty sound and reliable. Nice work!

Wow, that looks great!

I couldn't quite tell from the photos, but did you replace the intake manifold? I've heard that the pre-2001 had issues with the front water crossover tube cracking and Ford did a recall. Their replacement manifold has a metal crossover tube built in to the plastic manifold. My 2001 4.6 has the old manifold and I'm eventually going to replace it. If you haven't replaced it yet, you might consider doing it now while it would be easily accessible.

Keep up the good work.

This! I see a pre-01 intake on there. Get the FRPP unit.

That's the best looking 4.6 I recall seeing. Nice.

Here's what I put on my 2000 4.6 SOHC to replace the OE intake manifold. There may be other suppliers and other brands so shop around, perhaps.

I bought part #1380005 for $228 a few years ago and then didn't worry about it breaking and spewing coolant, which would happen if I were miles from home and it was a rainy night, of course.

BTW, beautiful engine!

That does look really clean/new. Curious if you did anythig with the internals. Did you do the head gasket? Bill

That's sharp! Nice work. I recall that a vendor suggested using no more than three colors on the motor. Your's is a fine example. :)
