Anyone know of a higher capacity fuel tank that you can use in the roadster? Looking for 20+ gallons.

Boyd's? Sponsor and supposed to be right around 20 gallons. I've seen some posts that fuel cells are also higher capacity.

Wow, it couldn't have been any more in front of my face. Thank you!

I didn't know that Boyd's was making tanks for the roadster. I thought it was only for the '33?

Some people have used the tank from a Crown Vic. It is (IIRC) 22 gal, and is almost a direct bolt in. It hangs lower than a Mustang tank, and does not use the plastic cover.

You can buy a 22 gal fuel cell from Fuel Safe that is a direct bolt in for the Mustang. That allows you to use all the mustang parts like fuel pumps, senders, filler necks, etc. It is a very expensive option, though, like around $2200.

The above two options allow you to use a dropped trunk floor. That is very handy for travel and touring.

I saw one talented individual who modified the Mustang tank by extending the left side upwards, and making it flat on top.

I have seen some custom made tanks that can hold 20-25 gal. They are generally not a simple bolt on, and require some fabrication of mounts. Custom tanks are not cheap, either.

I can't remember where the Spec car gets it's fuel cell, but it's not from FFR any longer. That one is rectangular, and is (I think) 20 gal.

A note about fuel cells: The volume of the cell is based on a volume measurement of the casing. By the time you add the bladder, foam, collector(s), the volume is a lot less. My 22 gal cell really only holds 18 gal.

Go to the other forum and do a search on fuel tanks. There's some good information there. Be sure and search the archived posts, too.

Might go with the Crown Vic tank....looking for expanded fuel capacity so I can drive the roadster some distance on E85.

Yeah, that is kind of a problem for me, too. I can only carry 18 gallons. And with decreased mileage on E85, it kind of limits my range.

the crown vic/grand marquis is the easiest and most affordable way to go.

You might check with Joe at Nor-East Replicas he offered an aluminum tank which held 26 Gallons.
