Hey guys,

The new owner of FFR4615 called me yesterday and had a question about where the filler goes into the tank. He said that there is a slight leak around the rubber grommet. He also said he thought there was supposed to be some kind of metal ring that goes there and maybe holds the filler and maybe keeps it from leaking?

I have no idea, as I don't have the car anymore, the manuals went with it, and I didn't assemble that portion of the car, it was already on.

Thanks in advance for any tips or ideas I can pass on.

The grommet is a ford unit and can be purchased anywhere, but I would get a genuine Ford part. Mark Reynolds carries them. The metal bracket was designed to keep the filler neck from coming out of the tank in the event of a collision.
I will not have any affect on a leak. Have the new owner look at the filler tube to be sure it's going in the tank straight, and is not contacting the frame anywhere. Any side load on the filler could cause a leak.
