I used 3M spray on adhesive. That was about 8 years ago. I used the same thing for the carpeting.

It's 3M Super 77. I was not happy with it at first but I believe our extreme summer heat can affect it's performance. I had to re-apply it a couple of times on some border areas and then it stayed put. Works best ,IMO, as a contact adhesive, so spray both surfaces and follow directions. I found it very useful while adding additional insulation around the cockpit. Works well on a variety of surfaces. It's like many things done on these projects: the first time you do it, it's ify or just OK but if I did it again, it would be a lot easier. Good luck. Oh, I forgot you don't need it. You already have it!!! WEK.

I used contact cement, 2 coats and it hasn't moved. I will do my next one the same way.

3M Super Trim Adhesive #8090, its like a stronger version of the 77. On the bottom back edge of the dash and around the glove box opening, where the fabric folds around the back of the aluminum, I also used a tube of black Super Weatherstrip adhesive and clamped the edges; C-clamps and strips of wood. Why? The first time around I used 77 only & it wasn't long before the FL sun loosened the edges, letting the fabric pull away some. It wasn't bad, but took the dash out to make some changes & figured why not redo the dash via lessons learned. Its been over a year & a half, no problems.

Used Weldwood brush-on contact cement and this thicker bodied headliner spray adhesive for the dash covering also for carpet insulation and carpeting.

Not satisfied -I used the 3M77 and, at first was very pleased with it. But, similar to CapeCoralCobra, the wrap around parts began coming loose, especially at the curved ends and around the glove box. Perhaps my prep work was inadequate. I know most are happy with the 77. While my body is off for paint, I plan to redo the dash and will probably try the 3M Super Trim Adhesive, and use more clamps. I can hardly wait!!! I know cleaning off the old adhesive is going to be a challenge.

Dave, If I remember correctly, I used lacquer thinner to remove the old adhesive. Wasn't too bad.

I used weldwood contact cement on mine, and it worked out great. I prefer it over the spray just because it was a little less messy. FWIW, I had a problem with my dash, and had to do it twice, and the weldwood cleaned off pretty easily and I was able to apply a new piece. Here's my build post about my dash, in cash you're interested. http://www.kdcobrabuild.com/2010/03/more-progress-a-step-back-and-some-steps-forward/

2x on what Kevin said above. I have used the Weldwood contact cement on six dashes over the years with no problems.
