Now that I'm planning on actually being on the road (in gelcoat) this summer, I'm thinking about taking a short jaunt over to YNP. It's about 2 hours from my house, maybe a little less.

I was curious if anyone else is planning on making the trip to the Park this summer and if so, maybe we could get a few cars and meet up?

Kevin,
Since your a local, When is the best time to visit out there? We are considering a family trip there but just aren't sure when to try and go.
Thanks,
Todd

Do bears still try to climb on cars? It's not like I can just roll the window up! ;-) Maybe pick up a can of that "bear spray" stuff... I'm in (with my spray).

Well, summer is short here, so it's a balancing act with crowds vs. weather, but we've never really had too much of an issue with the crowds anyway, just don't be in a hurry, and you'll do fine.

It's still pretty cool in June, with snow even, so we usually say mid July through August would be a better time to go for the better weather. Let me know if you need any travel advice, camping, etc. My shop is always available for FFR storage too for anyone that needs it during their trip!

MIKE - I hear bears are especially fond of ORANGE cars...

Bears are scared of 'em. I came accross one that was crossing the road as I approached. The sound scared him and he reversed course (he was heading to the creek). He headed up the hill about 30-40 yards, so I shut the car off and coasted to a stop to get some pics while he was there. He stood there, a bit confused, waited for us to take pictures while not taking his eyes off of us. When I did fire it up, he bolted up the hill never to be seen again.

Only caveat is, this was a black bear, not a griz. I wouldn't have shut the car off for a griz...

Oh, and at some point I will probably be in Bozeman, but I don't know if I'll be in the Roadster or not.
