I was wondering if anyone knows if any 351W oil pan will fit a '69 year Windsor block. My casting # is C90E-6015. I am looking for a road race style pan and there are many options and want to make sure what I order will fit. Some designate a year however I believe this refers to a model car year?? Any help would be great. Thank you.

I have a 302 in my '33 and I used a Champ road race pan. Excellent fit. Stays above the chassis too. High quality pan.

I just so happen to have a '69 351W based engine for my Mark IV. The pan that I have for that is also from Champ.

To the best of my knowledge, the difference in oil pans is the location of the oil dipstick. In 1969 (your block) the dipstick tube was in the timing cover; later engines had the dipstick on the drivers side oil pan. Another thing about the early 351 Windsors is that they are shorter blocks by .050 (I'm guessing because I can't remember stuff anymore) or so (crank centerline to top of block) and take a different pin height in the pistons than later blocks. I believe the taller blocks came out in the early 70's.

Thanks guys. I will check out champ pans. I was looking at Levys and also Canton.

Canton sometimes makes a good pan, and sometimes not. A lot of people (me included) have had trouble with leaking seams. Next time I need an oil pan, I'll call Gordon.

I purchased a Canton road race pan yesterday. Hopefully I won't have a leak problem Bob. I purchased a one piece gasket. Do you normally use Rtv on either side of the gasket or just at the corners?

I only use RTV in the corners, and at the seam between the block and front cover.

I had a Canton pan years ago. It leaked at the welds....

Wow. At the welds? Well hopefully I won't have that problem. If I do then I will have to figure something else out. I'll cross my fingers.

Can anyone tell me the best oil pan setup for a 408 Windsor? Keeping in mind I'll probably add the electric power steering.

Thanks
