Anyone out there use the T-56 6 speed in their build?

I have but only in IRS cars. The drive shaft is to short for a live axle to work properly.

Sorry Mike.... didn't see a T-56 in your inventory. By the way I have a IRS set up, How much would I need to shorten my drive shaft?

I am! I just moved the engine about 3" forward and the T56 fits great in my Coupe. I am not sure in the roadster you would have to move it that far.

Did you order the smallest driveshaft available and still hav to move it forward?

No my driveshaft is longer than stock. Pinion to seal measurement is about 15" (stock coupe driveshaft is 12"). I moved it to get the car closer to a 50/50 weight bias and also to make it easier to mate the trans to the car at the trans mount. The trans mount on the T56 is further aft than it was on the TKO which means in the stock position the trans mount would be over the top of the 4" cross tube.
Check out this pic: http://corvetteforum.shelor.net/Docs/T-56_Service_Manual/Default.asp
The mount is directly below the forward shifter bolts.
Here is the only pic I have of the install with it 3" forward:

So moving the motor 3in forward didn't cause any problems like fitment of the headers and exhaust... Etc??????
