33 Pickup Ideas, Just for fun

Every once in awhile, someone talks about a 33 pickup. The guys at Hammink did a neat job, but I wanted to try some other ideas. These are just rough sketches, the FFR car door is much longer than an actual 33 pickup which makes the proportions hard to work with. ;)

This has been mentioned, including my chat with Dave S. about trucks and sedan delivery bodies for the 33 chassis. I would love to add a truck bed later. All your renderings have bobbed rear fenders but I wonder if the full fenders lower drop would marry the body lines a bit more. Any chance you could humor us with that look?

Think the best thing would be a stretched chassis. If you make the door openings smaller you still haven't moved the seating positions forward, where they need to be to make the box proportional to the rest of the body. And then, you'd have to have your custom teardrop travel trailer behind it to complete the look. Question: what would you use as a rear suspension to give you the handling you want with the towing capacity you'll need?

From a looks standpoint, I've always felt the front of the 33 was too long which throws it off a bit. Of course this is to accommodate a variety of engines and lengthen the cab. If you could shorten the nose, it would give the truck a more balanced look. Like this one.

I agree, both the engine bay and cab area are too long for a pickup. My convoluted thought process led me to the woody when I could not get the pickup concept to work. I have always wanted a woodie wagon, the profile above might have some potential for a future build. The 33 is too light for towing anything bigger than Dan Ruth's trailer. I am installing a hitch so I can carry my mountain bike. I have seriously considered a teardrop trailer for my 46 Chevy.:cool:

I really love how the body lines go all the way over the truck bed, it would be a cool looking ride.

My car would be a hard top though, and maybe no fenders like the one in ehansens post.

The reason I like those is that without them the lower body line jumps up so drastically behind the tires, IMO It needs a roll pan to complete the blend
And I agree the cab rearward is part of the visual imbalance, made very obvious by the front wheels being so far forward.
It is easy enough to stretch the wheelbase in back, I've done it, but trying to move the front wheels back would be very complicated.

The whole idea started when I was trying to increase the luggage capacity so I could travel in the car. The boat tail kind goes in the other direction.... Cutting a concave curve in the top of the door swooping it into the boat tail might be cool.

I've always thought that the 33 would be great with a truck option. It already has a lot of options now to change the look. FFR is changing the kit car world with the 818, it would be great if those ideas translate to some of their other models.
